New conveyor roller coating

Durathane-coated conveyor rollers now available from R.A. Rodriguez

Developed by conveyor product specialists Bryant Products Inc., and initially applied to their range of pulleys, Durathane lagging is now available on the company’s conveyor rollers.  This option is now available to UK customers via sole distributors, R. A. Rodriguez.

The polyurethane elastomer is 100% solid with no VOC content. It provides superior performance in rapid cold-mould casting, conveyor roller lagging and as a protective coating system. Good adhesion to optimally prepared mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium is another quality of Durathane as it is fast curing. This greatly reduces moisture sensitivity.

Available in two grades, Durathane exceeds the abrasion resistance of carboxilated/rubber and it is chemical and UV resistant.

According to Bryant Products, by comparison with other roller coverings, Durathane exhibits reduced belt slippage and is not prone to dye and particle transfer. This is a common drawback when rubber coatings encounter extruded belts and often results in tracking problems.

The Durathane elastomer application is CNC controlled and many profiles can be specified to suit the customer’s need. Small batches with short lead times are easily accommodated.

A key benefit of Durathane over urethane alternatives is that its application doesn’t involve a mould. Coating is a form-following process, which means it can be applied to irregular shapes, such as tapered conveyor rollers, with far less waste. It is also competitively priced against SBR or carboxilated nitrile coatings.
