New cast machine stretch-film

Polythene UK introduce industrial film that provides thinner profile and minimizes environmental impact

POLYTHENE UK, the UK’s largest independent supplier of polythene film and bags, have launched a new cast machine stretch-film. The company says the new product’s reduced thickness uses less film by weight, which, in turn, creates less packaging waste.

An additional environmental benefit of the stretch film is its thinner profile winds more film on to a standard reel, offering not only reduced delivery requirements and CO2 emissions, but also greater packaging efficiency.

The cast machine stretch-film is suitable for use on semi-automatic pallet wrapping machines. According to Polythene UK, due to the film’s down-gauged profile this delivers all the strength, load holding characteristics and performance levels of a conventional 20mu stretchwrap, but in a film profile that is only 10mu in thickness.

James Woollard, managing director of Polythene, explained: ‘Because our cast machine stretch film has a thinner profile, this ensures more film to be wound per roll, and, in turn, more pallets per reel to be wrapped. In addition to saving up to 43% on wrapping costs, this greater length of film per roll also means fewer stoppages for reel changes, maximizing productivity.’

The company is currently focusing on technically advanced down-gauged solutions to improve efficiency, reduce costs and minimize environmental impact for shrink and stretch applications.
