Aggregate Industries bolster specialist contracting business with two new key appointments

AS part of a strategy to strengthen their specialist contracting business, Spadeoak, Aggregate Industries have made two significant new appointments – Neil Carlsson as contract director and Andy Bingham as commercial manager.

Already active in his new position, Mr Carlsson is responsible for the successful delivery of high-profile contracts delivering world-class sports, civils and surfacing products to the education, retail, commercial and residential sectors. He joins the business from Conway Aecom where, in his role as a boroughs manager since 2015, he specialized in the delivery of surfacing and maintenance programmes.

With more than a decade’s track record within the contracting sector, Mr Carlsson has also previously worked for civil engineering contractors J.B. Riney & Co and Aggregate Industries as a contracts manager.

Meanwhile, former Spadeoak veteran Andy Bingham rejoined the company on 14 January. Having originally joined the firm’s graduate scheme in 2011 as an assistant site supervisor, he worked his way up to contracts estimator, gaining a sound working knowledge of groundworks and contracting practices, before leaving Spadeoak in 2018 to pursue a personal short sabbatical.

Since then, Mr Bingham has gained further experience on the main contracting side with Tolent Construction and S&C Slatter. As Spadeoak’s new commercial manager, he will be responsible for delivering the commercial growth for the business.

Commenting on his new appointment, Mr Carlsson said: ‘I’m delighted to be taking on this new chapter in my career…and look forward to working with the team to make my mark during this challenging yet exciting time for the sector. I have no doubt that, as experts in our field, the new strategic growth of Spadeoak will not only continue to meet, but also exceed customer service and expectation.’

Andy Bingham said: ‘I am excited to be back at Spadeoak, especially during such an exciting time for the business. I look forward to working with the team and many of my colleagues to make life easier and more convenient for our valued customers.’

Both new appointments will report directly to Vicky Smith, who was appointed as managing director of Spadeoak in October 2020. She said: ‘I’d like to congratulate both Neil and Andy on their new positions. Given their established track records and sector expertise, I have no doubt they’ll hit the ground running to further grow the business and continue to supply products and services to our customers with excellence.’
