New ADT from Doosan

Latest DA40 articulated dumptruck offers significantly improved performance and economy

DOOSAN Infracore Construction Equipment have launched their new DA40 articulated dumptruck, the first in a new family of Doosan ADTs offering increased engine power and torque, higher payloads, lower fuel consumption, enhanced operator comfort and faster travel speeds.

Using quality components from leading suppliers, including ZF, NAF, Parker and Rexroth, the latest range of Doosan dumptrucks are optimized for extreme off-road performance. Powered by a six-cylinder Scania DC13 Stage IIIB-compliant diesel engine that delivers a power output of 368kW (500hp) at 2,100 rev/min, the DA40 provides a 10% increase in engine power compared to the previous MT41 model.

With a 22% increase in gross torque to 2,373Nm (1,750 lb/ft) at 1,300 rev/min, the machine offers the maximum torque available in the Doosan ADT range. The increased engine power is combined with SCR technology to reduce fuel contribution by as much as 8%. Also contributing to the improved fuel economy is the ADT’s new ZF transmission offering eight forward and four reverse speeds.

To help withstand the strong performance of the dumptruck, the driveline dimensions and cooling capacity have increased. The DA40 also has an expanded body capacity of 24.4 cubic meters, while the payload has been boosted to 40 tonnes without tailgate, which represents a rise of more than 15% over the payload of the MT41.

The machine features six-wheel drive for equal power distribution, while the free-swinging rear tandem bogie and special articulation system provides superior driving performance in difficult terrain. The sloping body design gives better truck stability thanks to its low centre of gravity, allowing for fast and easy tipping. The combination of a special tandem bogie and sloping rear frame helps avoid the need for electronic aids such as traction control.

To handle the increased payload and deliver a smoother ride for the operator, the DA40 has hydro-gas front suspension (no rigid axle) – a special feature of the Doosan ADT that offers free movement on one side (without movement on the opposite side) and maximum ground contact and shock absorption.

The dumptruck has a completely redesigned cab providing more space, better visibility and reduced noise levels for the operator. Doosan have also introduced a new electronic system with simplified fingertip controls and a digital display of all machine functions. This includes fully automatic eight-gear transmission and smooth Tiptronic gear-shifting (manual or automatic available) features.
