New ABB workshop for low-voltage circuit breakers

Company sets up new service and repair facility in Staffordshire to help extend life of LVB equipment

A NEW dedicated facility for the service and repair of low-voltage breakers (LVBs) has been set up by ABB at their factory in Stone, Staffordshire, offering customers the chance to extend the working life of their equipment.

The new 252 square metre workshop provides all the overhaul, test and refurbishment facilities needed to support customers’ LVBs, whether from ABB or other manufacturers.

Life-cycle services on offer for LVBs include planned preventive maintenance, carried out at a customer’s site. The workshop provides a detailed report on the condition of equipment requiring repair and makes recommendations on parts replacement and restoration to original specifications.

Also offered is complete refurbishment of breakers, returning them to their original ‘good as new’ condition. Mechanical components are thoroughly cleaned before being reassembled to original specification, using original alignments and tooling. ABB provide a full 12-month warranty covering any new parts used.

Mark Clegg, sales manager for LVB service in the UK, said: ‘Refurbishing or repair of circuit breakers is an economical alternative to purchasing new parts. As well as ensuring the breaker maintains its original performance, our services extend the life of the circuit breaker.’

ABB say retrofits can also be performed to improve electrical and mechanical performance, and the workshop holds a stock of spares for both current and phased-out products. Other workshop services include routine maintenance, repairs and replacements, testing and training.
