Mothballing of South Ferriby confirmed

South Ferriby cement plant

CEMEX announce cement plant to close by end of the month with the loss of more than 100 jobs

FOLLOWING a two-month period of consultation with employee representatives and Unite the Union, CEMEX today confirmed that their proposal to mothball South Ferriby cement plant is to go ahead.

The closure will affect approximately 110 employees currently based at the plant, with the majority of redundancies expected to take place this month.

Customers will continue be supplied from CEMEX’s existing cement network, with the company’s supply chain plan and commercial management ensuring that customer service is maintained at all times.

CEMEX say the decision to mothball South Ferriby will allow them to optimize the network they have available across the region as part of an ongoing strategy to strengthen their portfolio and secure their place as a global leader in the industry.
