Automation OEM acquires Nozomi Networks to deliver integrated protection for industrial operations

MITSUBISHI Electric have acquired Nozomi Networks – a global leader in operational technology (OT) and Internet of Things (IoT) cyber security – in a move set to enhance protection across industrial and social infrastructure sectors.

The acquisition will combine Mitsubishi Electric’s deep OT expertise with Nozomi Networks’ advanced monitoring and threat-detection technology to deliver a comprehensive ‘one-stop OT security solution’ designed to safeguard on-site equipment and systems from rising cyber threats.

The announcement follows an earlier collaboration agreement between the two organizations in 2024 and reflects the growing importance of OT security to digital transformation. According to a government study, 43% of businesses reported a cyber breach or attack within the past year, and the need for integrated protection across connected industrial systems has never been greater.

Nozomi Networks’ analytics and anomaly detection capabilities will strengthen Mitsubishi Electric’s Serendie digital platform, improving visibility and resilience across complex OT environments, whilst enhancing the business’s cybersecurity credentials.

Satoshi Takeda, senior vice-president, CDO and CIO at Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, said: ‘We are excited to welcome Nozomi to the Mitsubishi Electric family. Their cutting-edge OT security technology and rapid innovation have earned them a strong reputation. By combining Nozomi's strengths with Mitsubishi Electric's extensive expertise and capabilities in OT, I believe we can achieve even more.

‘This acquisition will enable us to co-create valuable new services whilst supporting Nozomi's commitment to innovation and customer flexibility. Together, we can help customers achieve their digital transformation goals whilst enhancing security, efficiency, and resilience.’

Edgard Capdevielle, president and CEO of Nozomi Networks, added: ‘This marks an exciting new chapter for Nozomi. With Mitsubishi Electric’s global reach and resources, we can accelerate our innovation engine and deliver even greater value to industrial organizations worldwide and accelerate their own digital transformations.’
