Minerals and Waste Developments: Streamlining the Consenting Process
One-day conference in Wolverhampton examining developments in the context of the Penfold Review
HOSTED by Crestwood Environmental Ltd, this centrally located one-day conference at the Technology Centre, Wolverhampton Science Park, Wolverhampton, on Wednesday 18 April 2012, aims to explore the opportunities available to streamline the non-planning and planning consenting process for minerals and waste developments set in the context of the Penfold Review.
Incisive ideas born from good and bad industry experiences will be presented by speakers with different perspectives on the planning, environmental assessment, permitting, licensing and operating of minerals and waste developments.
The output of the presentations and discussions will be fed back into industry to encourage improved thinking on making the most of resources to achieve a positive and sustainable future for minerals and waste development.
Speaking at the event will be: Hugh Lucas, head of planning and estates with Aggregate Industries; Jeff Rhodes, planning & permitting manager with Biffa Waste Services; John Galvin, team leader Waste Programme with Defra; Phil Rayson, planning and development manager with Scottish Coal; Derek Greedy, president of the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management; Mark Plummer, team leader Minerals, Waste and Pollution Control with DCLG; and Maggie Dutton, waste regulation manager with the Environment Agency.
The conference is expected to be of interest to anyone involved in the preparation of, consultation on, or determination of planning, permitting and other related consents for minerals and waste developments, including EIA, ecological and environmental management aspects.
Participants will be able to exchange new ideas for improvements and share past experiences of seeking consents in the minerals and waste sectors from those at the ‘sharp end’; gain an understanding of how the proposals to implement the recommendations in the Penfold Review can help the minerals and waste industry; hear the views of representatives from the Environment Agency, Defra and DCLG; and network with a range of professionals in the minerals and waste sectors.
