Miller UK fly the flag for UK manufacturing

Miller UK at Hillhead 2012

Earthmoving specialists Miller UK Ltd, manufacturers of buckets and couplers for companies such as CNH, Komatsu and Volvo, launched the Coupler Alert Safety System (CASS), an innovative new operator safety tool, at the recent Hillhead exhibition.

In an industry first, the CASS system has been designed to alert external ground workers that the operator is releasing the attachment. The audio and visual warning system provides an invaluable safety tool for operators, comprising an LED warning light and audio ‘Stand Clear’ message. The system means enhanced safety for everyone working in and around heavy plant machinery on a construction site.

Miller UK products are constantly being updated through their innovative UK design centre to enhance safety and reliability, with all ranges conforming to, and often exceeding, the relevant ISO safety standards and industry requirements.

Chris Parkin, chief operating officer, said: ‘With this being Jubilee year and with Britain hosting the Olympics what better time than to promote the strength that is British industry. We’re hugely proud of the CASS system, which marks a step-change in safety standards for the sector, developed and manufactured right here in the UK.’

Having invented the pin grabber quick coupler back in 1987, Miller UK offer simple and adaptable solutions that are used by some of the sector’s biggest names. The patented coupler allows heavy plant machines to be fitted with a wide variety of different buckets and attachments, offering enhanced efficiency and flexibility for their users.

‘Almost every visitor to our stand commented on the Union Jack painted bucket, saying how important it was that we promote the engineering, manufacturing and innovative design capacity of Great Britain and this is something we have been doing ever since the company was founded,’ said Stephen McMahon, UK national sales manager, who was part of the Miller team attending the international show. ‘We saw at Hillhead this week an industry that is beginning to emerge from recession and achieved a number of significant sales.  We were delighted at the interest in our products and would especially like to thank all of our customers who have stood by us throughout the hard times the industry has faced and continue to work with us.’
