Metso to supply world’s biggest mobile crushing plant
Company to supply large-scale mobile crushing and conveying process to open-pit copper mine
METSO are to supply the world’s biggest fully mobile, track-mounted crushing plant to Altay Polimetally LLP’s new copper mine in Kazakhstan. The contract also includes the supply of a large mobile feeding and conveying system to move the crushed copper ore for further processing, as well as installation supervision and training. The total value of the order is in excess €11 million.
The giant mobile jaw crusher – the largest Lokotrack ever built – will be delivered to Altay Polimetally’s new open-pit mine, in the Karagandy region of the country, during the fourth quarter of 2013, where it will be used for the primary crushing of up to 10 million tons of host rock per year.
Weighing almost 400 tons, the Lokotrack LT200 will process the blasted material at a nominal capacity of 2,500 tons/h. It will be fed by a Metso MAF210 mobile apron feeder, with the crushed product being conveyed, via a Nordberg LL16 mobile conveying system and track-mounted stacker, to the mine’s conveyor network.
The tracked mobile apron feeder will have a loading height of 6m and a feed hopper volume of 24 cubic meters, while the LT200 jaw plant will be equipped with Metso’s largest C200 jaw crusher, capable of accepting lumps of ore up to 1.2m in size. The wheel-mounted LL16 mobile conveyor will have two conveyor elements, each 42m long, and the track-mounted stacker will provide discharge heights from 3–10m.
The complete mobile system will weigh more than 800 tons but will be able to move easily along the mine face. To withstand the harsh climatic conditions during the winter (operational temperatures at the mine vary from +35°C to –35°C) the entire system will be electrically driven.
