Acquisition of P.J. Jonsson och Söner AB set to strengthen Metso’s offering to Nordic countries

METSO have agreed to acquire Swedish aggregate equipment manufacturers P.J. Jonsson och Söner AB, with the aim of strengthening the breadth and availability of their product and service offering for the aggregates industry in the Nordic countries.

P.J. Jonsson och Söner, based in Överhörnäs, Sweden, specialize in the supply of mobile crushing and screening plants. The company, which has approximately 40 employees, achieved sales of SEK342 million (€33 million) in 2017.

The acquisition, which is subject to customary closing conditions, including clearance from the Swedish Competition Authority, is expected to close in the third quarter of 2018. Both parties have agreed not to disclose the value of the transaction.

‘This acquisition is a good strategic fit for Metso, supporting our profitable growth strategy,’ said Markku Simula, president of Metso’s Aggregates Equipment business area. ‘Joining forces with P.J. Jonsson och Söner gives us the opportunity to serve our Nordic customers with complementary offerings.’
