Metso Outotec to shed 254 jobs in Finland

Company completes employee co-operation negotiations relating to merger of Metso Minerals and Outotec

METSO Outotec are to reduce the company’s headcount in Finland by 254. Of these, 87 will be permanent jobs through redundancies and the rest through other arrangements, such as non-renewal of fixed-term contracts, retirement arrangements and voluntary resignations.

The announcement follows employee co-operation negotiations relating to the restructuring of Metso Outotec’s operations which started on 8 July 2020. At that time the reduction in headcount was estimated at a maximum of 280 permanent jobs. The job reductions will affect nearly all Metso Outotec’s locations in Finland.

 

Metso say the measures relate to the merger of their Minerals business and Outotec. The objective of the new organizational model is to ensure efficient business operations for Metso Outotec, reduce overlaps of the two previous organizations and meet the set synergy targets.
