Metso Minerals enter logistics partnership in Europe

METSO Minerals have signed a five-year contract with SKF Logistics Services to provide parts logistics and warehousing support in the European construction market.

With parts logistics representing an important part in Metso Minerals’ customer service supply chain, the company says the new partnership will lead to improved parts availability and lead times in Europe.

The new distribution centre, managed by SKF Logistics Services, will commence operations during the first quarter of 2008 in Tongeren, Belgium. The centre will support Metso Minerals’ construction customers, mainly in central Europe, while the company’s existing distribution centres in Tampere, Finland, and Mâcon, France, will continue to support customers locally.

Under the terms of the agreement, SKF Logistics Services will take over the warehousing, collecting and packing operations, while Metso Minerals will continue to manage the orders and inventories, and technical product support.
