Maris Pumps celebrate 10 years of trading

Maris Pumps

Established by Barrie Maris in 2003, Maris Pumps have grown over the last 10 years from a small fleet of pumps with a single delivery vehicle to probably the UK’s largest single pump hire depot, by providing a genuine 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week pump-hire service.

Serving the construction, drainage and civil engineering industries, as well as mines, quarries and utilities, Maris Pumps currently supply pump-hire solutions to leading companies in their industry sectors. Their client list includes many of the water utility and top 100 civil engineering/construction companies.

The company began in a small rented industrial unit in Brimington, Chesterfield; the low overheads allowed Maris Pumps to become established. By 2007 this  allowed the purchase of the current main depot, a 16-acre custom-built facility in Temple Normanton, Chesterfield, housing a fleet of over 250 pumps and five delivery vehicles.

A number of milestones followed - becoming a limited company and development of the Road Ramp in 2008; becoming ISO9001:2008 registered in 2011 and ISO14001 registered in 2013.

Steven Mosley, general manager, commented: 'I am extremely proud to be celebrating our 10th anniversary of trading in November. The company has grown so rapidly from where we started and will continue to expand in the future. We have a fantastic team working with us whose expertise and dedication has brought us to where we are today - we will continue to provide the high levels of service we’ve become renowned for and look forward to the next 10 years of business!'

Always striving for improvement, Maris Pumps have introduced several products on to the pump-hire market - the Road Ramp, a registered design that allows water to be pumped across a road whilst maintaining traffic flow; and the Micron Filter Sock, a simple and economic way of separating silts and fines from water that would normally discharge into drains and water courses.

Maris Pumps are due to open a new depot in Leeds this month [October], allowing quicker delivery times to sites in Yorkshire and Lancashire, which will lead to further depots being opened across the country.
