Maptek announce new laser scanner for long-range surveying

Maptek have announced the release of a new laser scanner - the I-Site 8800.

The I-Site 8800 has been designed to deliver the best possible performance across a wide range of applications, from close-range detailed survey to long-range topographic mapping.

Maptek say that stockpile volumes, pit surveys and mapping can be completed faster than ever; even the largest open pits can be modelled in less than a day.

The I-Site 8800 is designed to match a surveyor’s workflow. Features include: automatic tilt compensator, motorized alignment telescope, long-life integrated battery, and powerful, touchscreen HHC and acquisition interface.

An integrated 70-megapixel panoramic digital camera provides colour texture data that can be automatically applied to scan surfaces. Accurate geotechnical and geological mapping results can be achieved working directly from the 3D textures.

The scanner comes complete with Maptek I-Site Studio software. The latest version incorporates new features to make scanning projects more efficient.
