Limestone weighing at Hanson

Hanson Aggregates have selected a new concrete and steel weighbridge from Precia-Molen UK to handle the weighing of crushed limestone at their quarry in Chipping Sodbury.

The 15m VS300CS surface-mounted weighbridge, together with weight indicator and remote weight display, replaces one of three existing steel weighbridges. The new weighbridge is of composite construction with the concrete platform providing a durable and hardwearing surface.

Colin White, assistant manager at the quarry, said: ‘This type of weighbridge is ideal for quarries that excavate limestone, with it being a very harsh and abrasive material that usually wears away steel surfaces relatively quickly.’

Since its installation the new weighbridge has taken the bulk of the site’s vehicle move-ments in order to prolong the life of the other two adjacent weighbridges, which are now used for weighing added-value products such as asphalt.
