Lafarge scoop eco-friendly award

LAFARGE will be named as a winner at this year’s Green Apple Environment Awards for their Extensia low shrink concrete.

According to the company, the concrete flooring technology needs no steel mesh or steel fibres, and is 100% recyclable, offering a carbon emission saving of around 20%, compared to conventional concrete. Its high flexural strength also means it can be laid in thinner slabs, reducing the total amount of concrete required.

Lafarge Readymix managing director Jeremy Greenwood will receive the award (in the Environmental Best Practice category) at a glittering ceremony to be held at the House of Commons in November.

‘Being recognized for our innovation and sustainable credentials is something I am very proud of,’ commented Mr Greenwood. ‘Not only is it a great achievement, but it rewards each and every employee for all of their hard work and determination in these fields.’
