Krohne launch new Optiwave 5200 C/F radar level meter

Optiwave 5200 C/F

Latest 10GHz FMCW system designed for liquid applications up to 30m measuring range

KROHNE have added the new Optiwave 5200 C/F model to their existing range of modular level meters. The cost-effective, two-wire loop powered FMCW device measures level and volume in storage/process tanks under temperatures up to 250°C and pressures up to 40 bar (580psi).

Together with the recently launched Optiflex 2200 C TDR level meter, the new Optiwave 5200 C model has been designed and developed for use in SIL 2 safety-related systems according to IEC 61508.

The radar level meter features unique PP and PTFE wave horn antennas, which are process sealed by their antenna material instead of a traditional process seal construction with ‘O’ ring gaskets. These gasket-free antennas are, therefore, suited to extreme corrosive environments.

The PP antenna can be mounted on process connections as small as 1.5in. The metallic horn and waveguide antennas use a dual-seal mechanism and combination of ‘O’ ring gaskets (with Metaglas seal) to ensure complete hermeticity for use in highly toxic and explosive liquids.

The modular design of the housing with unique bayonet locking system and antenna extensions ensure suitability for a variety of mounting positions and applications. The quick-coupling system of the device allows removal of the housing under process conditions, while a 360° rotation helps make the display screen easy to read.

The remote version Optiwave 5200 F is equipped with a remote converter, offering full display and configuration capability up to 100m away from the antenna. Replacing the well-known Krohne BM 702 radar level meter, the new unit offers 40-20mA Hart communication with dedicated PACTware DTMs and is compatible with existing BM 70 x flange systems.
