Acquisition of leading UK valve manufacturer

Now in their 97th year of operation, the John King Group continue to go from strength to strength, further supporting the materials handling industry with the acquisition of DAB Valves.

Founded in 1926, the John King Group is a fifth-generation family-owned global materials handling turnkey solution provider with facilities in the UK, Poland, Chile, America, Malaysia and South Africa.

David Wadworth, managing director of John King Group, expressed his enthusiasm on the acquisition: ‘Customers have always been John King Group’s principal focus. Complete satisfaction is our principal objective. In acquiring DAB Valves we have added a complementary range of products to the existing John King Group portfolio. We are delighted to announce that DAB Valves will continue to be manufactured in our Yorkshire-based factory where we have a full complement of machinery to be effective in this objective. We are delighted to harness our production capabilities with the ongoing support of Bob Wright and the DAB Valves design team who have over 40 years of industrial and applicational expertise.’

DAB Valves have been operating from their facilitates in Derbyshire and, like the John King Group, are proud to be a British manufacturer with family values at their core.

Bob Wright, managing director and owner of DAB Valves, commented: ‘Selling the business to John King Group is an exciting one. Yes, it frees up some of my time and enables me to focus on what I love the most, which is the design and engineering of the valves. Having John King Group’s ambitious team behind DAB Valves, I know will take the brand to the next level. You only have to visit their Leeds manufacturing site to feel the energy and hunger for success, along with their continued reinvestment in equipment and people.’

DAB Valves have a multitude of valves and associated equipment within their range from slide and butterfly valves to gravity flap diverter valves and drop-out boxes. With optional ATEX-certified valves and an array of characteristics including dust-tight sealing and slide plate short-stop to minimize material leakages and avoid build up, these are just some of the reasons why DAB Valves have been successful over the previous 40 years.

With the acquisition by John King Group, it will enable the DAB Valves brand to further strengthen with their global support network and considerable in-house design, engineering and manufacturing capabilities.

William Wadsworth, sales director of John King Group, said: ‘These are exciting times for the John King Group and our customer base, with valves adding to our already extensive turnkey industry offering of chains, sprockets, wear rail, lubrications, conveyors, site services, laser, engineering, manufacturing and design.’
