JCB move into site welfare market

JCB Eco Welfare Unit

Company signs licensing deal for eco-friendly welfare units to be manufactured under its world-famous brand

JCB have entered the site welfare market with the launch of a new generation of eco-friendly mobile units for the construction industry. The Rocester-based company has signed an agreement which will see the UK’s leading designer of site welfare solutions, Garic, manufacture the units under licence for the world-renowned JCB brand.

The JCB Eco Welfare Unit is primarily powered by solar panels, supported by a bespoke 12V super-silent back-up generator, making it the most environmentally friendly product on the market. It will reduce CO2 emissions by as much as 80% and deliver fuel-cost savings of up to £150 per week.

The unit is the highest-value product to bear the JCB name under licence and is available for sale or to hire through JCB’s UK dealership network and directly from Lancashire-based Garic.

John Atkinson, director and general manager of JCB Consumer Products Ltd, said: ‘With the launch of the JCB Eco Welfare Unit we are entering a new market with an industry-leading product that complements our existing range of plant. It will enable firms to supply a secure, comfortable space for employees, while reducing operating costs.

‘The JCB brand inspires trust and quality and it is vital that our partners reflect these values. Garic’s 11 years’ experience in solar technology, and many more in the welfare market, makes them the ideal business to work alongside in this venture.’

Gary Greally, financial director of Garic Ltd, said: ‘JCB are highly selective over the products they choose to bear their name. We have worked closely with the JCB team to design a bespoke unit which meets the highest standards of quality that are synonymous with the JCB brand.’

The JCB Eco Welfare Unit meets all CDM regulations and features a spacious canteen for six to 10 people with microwave facilities and hot running water, anti-vandal security doors and a WC room.

The unit has been designed for maximum versatility and is light enough to be towed by most commercial vehicles, with a hydraulic chassis enabling it to easily transform from a mobile unit into a secure static unit.

The units are available under a range of JCB Finance options.
