JCB Hydradig headline new £2 million-plus order

JCB supply 25 new machines including two Hydradig 110W wheeled excavators to major Scottish plant hire firm  

THE first JCB Hydradig 110W units to have rolled off the manufacturer’s production lines are being pressed into service – with two machines delivered to Kilmarnock-based Blackwood Plant Hire. 

According to JCB, the response to the launch of the Hydradig wheeled excavator at this year’s Bauma exhibition, in Munich, was well-received and the latest model is already sold out to the end of the year. The Staffordshire-based firm has recruited around 85 new members of staff as a result of the successful launch of its innovative new machine. 

 

Blackwood Plant Hire are among the first customers to have purchased the JCB Hydradigs, which form part of larger order for 25 JCB excavators in a deal worth more than £2 million.

Paul McCormack, sales director for Blackwood Plant Hire, said: ‘We are continually looking for new products that can give us the edge over our competitors. The low centre of gravity in the JCB Hydradig allows it to lift so much more than our other machines of this size.
 
‘We expect it to be used for highway works and small building sites with tight access thanks to its zero tail swing operation, brilliant manoeuvrability and 40km/h road speed to get between sections, making it perfect for these applications.’
 
He continued: ‘Initial feedback is extremely positive. The low centre of gravity on the machine is a great selling point to offer my customers - as they can get incredible lifting power from a small machine. 

‘Our operator thinks the machine is very smooth and stable and really enjoys the modern cab space. We use JCB machines due to their quality and the service and backup we receive from dealers Scot JCB.’
