J & J Franks choose Doosan

Surrey-based dry waste recycling company J & J Franks have taken delivery of a Doosan DX160W wheeled excavator for use in a new recycling and materials recovery unit.

Under the guidance of Peter Crate, who took over the company from his father in 1998, the business has developed from a sand quarry in the 1950s into a fully integrated quarrying and waste solutions business. One of Peter’s first tasks was to replace ageing equipment. Commenting on his choice of Doosan, Mr Crate said: ‘The first machines not only fully met our expectations in terms of performance, noise levels and fuel efficiency but also their residual values have proved to be strong. I have therefore stuck to the brand ever since for both our quarry and waste recycling activities.’

The latest DX160W excavator, supplied by local dealers Promac Solutions, is currently the fifth Doosan on site and has been equipped with a hydraulic high-rise cab to provide up to 2m of extra height for maximum operating visibility, a rotating sorting grab and a height limiter to allow it to work safely within the new 8m high recycling building – a height dictated by local green belt building restrictions.
