Italian job success for Doosan DX235DM excavator

Doosan DX235DM high-reach demolition excavator

Seli Manutenzioni Generali SRL use high-reach machine on university redevelopment project in Milan

MONZA-based Seli Manutenzioni Generali SRL have recently begun the process of demolishing Milan’s historic Catholic University del Sacro Cuore, in the Lombardy region of Italy.

Using a Doosan DX235DM high-reach demolition excavator for the dismantlement of existing buildings, as part of the university campus redevelopment project, the Italian contractor has nothing but praise for the performance of the machine.

Since October 2019, the demolition/excavation division of the business has won important orders, particularly in Milan and its province, a market for which the DX235DM is very suitable.

‘The machine stands out for its great flexibility in terms of application and speed,’ said Riccardo Cucini, technical director and production manager for Seli. ‘We chose the Doosan DX235DM because it is the only demolition machine that can be transported on the road without the need for exceptional transport and related special permits. Another reason for the purchase is the excellent stability of the machine, thanks to the quick-acting, hydraulically adjustable undercarriage.’

Indeed, the hydraulically adjustable undercarriage is one of the key features of the DX235DM, allowing it to be expanded to a maximum width of 3.74m for optimal stability in demolition operations. The width of the undercarriage can also be retracted hydraulically to 2.54m in the narrow width position for ease of machine transportation.

Typical of the design of all new Doosan demolition excavators, the DX235DM has a high visibility, tiltable cab offering a 30-degree tilting angle. Other key features of the Doosan high-reach machines include: a modular boom design; and hydraulic lock mechanism.

The innovative design features, say Doosan, helps make it simple to change between a 18m long demolition boom and an earthmoving boom (available in two configurations) for different types of work on the same project.

When equipped with the digging boom in a straight configuration, the DX235DM unit can work to a maximum height of 9m. In this mode, the recommended maximum weight for the attachment and quick coupler is 3.3 tonne.

Using the digging boom in the alternative bent configuration, the high-reach demolition excavator can work with an attachment to a maximum height of 8m. In this mode, the recommended maximum weight for the attachment and quick coupler is again 3.3 tonne.

In addition to the Doosan DX235DM, Seli have purchased the latest DX530DM model and two conventional excavators – the DX235LCR-5 and DX340LC-5.
