IQ Fellows head back to the Tower
Institute of Quarrying Fellows’ Lunch and Student Awards event returns to the Tower of London
THE Tower of London will once again provide an inspirational backdrop to this year’s Institute of Quarrying (IQ) Fellows’ Lunch and IQ Student Awards on Friday 1 November 2019.
Following the success of the inaugural IQ Fellows’ Lunch and Student Awards, the historic venue will host senior industry figures for this annual celebration and networking event. Among the guests will be award-winning students from the University of Derby’s Centre for Mineral Products.
James Thorne, the IQ’s chief executive officer, said: ‘The IQ Fellows’ Lunch and Student Awards is an exclusive opportunity for senior industry figures to get together and raise a glass to the industry.
‘It is also a great environment to celebrate the outstanding performances of students from the University of Derby Centre for Mineral Products. With an address from IQ president Phil Redmond, food and drinks, and a chance to explore the historic venue, the event is not to be missed.”
Each year top-performing students from the University of Derby Centre for Mineral Products are presented with an award from IQ. It is a recognition of their outstanding achievement and continuous commitment to the minerals extractives industry.
In addition to networking and the awards ceremony, 13th century costumed guides – Edward I, King of England from 1272 to 1307, and Master James of St. George, the King’s castle builder – will entertain guests with tales of the Tower, including insight into where the stone came from and how it was built.
