International ‘Atlantic Alliance’ Conference

AN impressive array of international speakers will be presenting at the forthcoming ‘Atlantic Alliance’ Conference in Brussels, from 20–21 October 2010, which will be entitled ‘Global Initiatives on Safety and Health’.

Drawn from the senior ranks of a wide range of stakeholders in health and safety, the Conference will be divided into three sessions.

Dr Alexandra Jour-Schroeder, Head of Unit, Mechanical, Electrical and Telecom Equipment, from DG Enterprise, has been invited to initiate the first session on ‘International Convergence’, with M. Joseph A. Main, Assistant Secretary of Labor for the US’s Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), concluding this session.

The second session, focusing on ‘Safe Machinery’, will have speakers such as Prof. Tim Horberry from the University of Queensland, Australia, representing the ‘Earthmoving Equipment Safety Round Table’, and Tara J. Cox from Caterpillar Inc.

The final session will be on ‘Key SHE Perspectives’ and will include Prof. Vladimir Rodin, Labour Safety Scientific Research Institute, Yekaterinburg, Russia, an expert in personal protective equipment (PPE) in extreme cold conditions.
