Industry qualification first for Aggregate Industries

AN in-house accreditation programme designed by Aggregate Industries is to become a nationally recognized qualification.

The ‘Asphalt Business Improvement’ QCF (Qualification and Credit Framework) has been accepted by the Proskills Qualification Reform Group and the Extractive and Mineral Processing Industry Board.

Aggregate Industries, who provide employees with a considerable amount of ‘on the job’ training at work, are the first company in the sector to design a nationally recognized qualification.

According to the company, this step will help shape the training and competence of its employees to meet business, legislative and social needs within its asphalt operations.

The asphalt training and qualifications will also support the company’s continual focus on improving the health and safety its staff.

Completion of the QCF at one of 3 levels, to match the learner’s capabilities and job role, will lead to the achievement of a Diploma in Asphalt Production, a nationally recognized and transferable qualification.

QCF qualifications will eventually replace NVQ (National Vocational Qualifications) in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, and are a different approach to vocational assessment and qualification. Scotland will have a slightly different framework – the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework.

NVQs currently held will still be recognized at their existing value.
