ICT Yearbook 2022–2023 now available
Twenty-seventh edition reflects on 50th anniversary of the Institute of Concrete Technology
THE latest edition of the ICT Yearbook has just been issued at the conclusion of the Institute of Concrete Technology’s 50th anniversary year. It marks the celebration of that milestone with an outline of on the Institute’s 50-year history, an account of the 50th annual Convention – with its anniversary banquet and the award of the prestigious Silver Medal and honorary fellowships – and an account of a subsequent seminar held to celebrate the achievements of the ICT’s members in Ireland.
The book’s core content consists of nine technical papers presented by an international panel of speakers at the Convention symposium, treating fundamental developments in concrete technology as they have evolved over the five decades of the Institute’s existence. The first of these papers is by Professor Jorge de Brito of the University of Lisbon, who opened the proceedings by giving the 11th Sir Frederick Lea Memorial Lecture on the topical subject of ‘Sustainable Concrete’.
A commissioned article describes the lifetime achievements of Philip Brannon (1817–1890), an inventor and early pioneer of concrete technology, whilst regular features include the ‘Face to Face’ interview, this year with Dr Bryan Magee of Ulster University, and ‘Inside Committee’, with a look at the work of the ICT’s Admissions & Membership Committee. The Yearbook concludes with abstracts of the dissertations submitted in partial fulfillment of the MSc in Advanced Concrete Technology, awarded by the University of Leeds.
