Hughes & Salvidge choose Geith quick-hitch compatible concrete crusher

Geith concrete crusher

Demolition contractor increases excavator versatility with new GT100QD attachment

DEMOLITION specialists Hughes & Salvidge have taken delivery of the UK’s first Geith quick-hitch mounted concrete crusher for use across their fleet of construction machinery. The GT100QD crusher, which can be used as a direct mounted unit or with a quick-hitch, is made of high strength abrasion-resistant steel with wear-resistant alloy pivot bearings and pins.

The Geith quick-hitch compatible concrete crusher has been designed with low maintenance in mind, as its pin-on jaws are easily replaceable; eliminating the costly rework of welding.

Bill Munday of Hughes & Salvidge said: ‘We purchased the first Geith quick-hitch mounted crusher to suit our 47-tonne machine for trial purposes. We were concerned that the attachment would lose crushing force, but after the first week of use this was no longer a concern.

‘The amount of time we save not having to direct mount these crushers is more cost effective and labour saving. A major advantage of the Geith crusher is the replaceable jaws. We can swap them easily on site without having to cut out and re-weld, which would normally be done off site so machine and crusher downtime is minimal.’

Following the success of the quick-hitch mounted crushers, Hughes & Salvidge have placed a new order for two more GT100QD concrete crushers (for other 47-tonne machines) and two GT80 units for smaller 30-tonne excavators.
