Honduras order for Metso

Metso Minerals are to supply crushing equipment – worth £6 million – to Agregados del Caribe for their S. Pedro Sula Quarry in Honduras.

The order is for a complete crushing, screening and classifying plant. This will consist of a primary jaw crusher, six cone crushers, three screens, sand treatment and classification units, a water clarifier, a belt conveyor (over 1km long), supporting structures, as well as electrification and automation packages. The order also includes engineering, erection and commissioning services.

Agregados del Caribe are a wholly owned subsidiary of American Aggregates and, once the new plant is fully operational, their quarry, near the city of Puerto Cortes, will be capable of producing 1,000 tonnes/h of aggregates, with an estimated annual production of 3 million tonnes. The company’s entire output will serve the US market.
