Holcim close two more bolt-on acquisitions

Holcim CEO Jan Jenisch

Building materials giant acquires Utelite Corporation in the US and Polcalc in Poland

HOLCIM have closed the acquisition of Utah-based Utelite Corporation, a leading US producer of lightweight aggregates. Utelite will join Holcim’s Mountain Region, alongside operations in the Denver, Phoenix and Las Vegas metro areas.

Founded in 1962, Utelite employ more than 40 staff serving customers across the western North American market. The company’s aggregate operation has more than 60 years of proven and probable reserves.

Holcim have also completed the acquisition of Polcalc in Poland, who employ around 78 people and are one of the country’s leading producers of granulated calcium carbonate. The latest acquisition complements Holcim’s aggregates portfolio in Poland.

Jan Jenisch, chief executive officer of Holcim, commented: ‘We are pleased to welcome the employees of Utelite and Polcalc, and look forward to their experience and capabilities. These two bolt-on acquisitions strengthen our presence in two important growth markets while contributing to Holcim’s overall strategy to expand our range of low-carbon products and solutions.’
