Hitachi EX1900 boosts production for Celtic Energy

CELTIC Energy have recently taken delivery of one of the largest Hitachi excavators ever to be sold in the UK by sole distributors HM Plant.

The 186-tonne EX1900 was shipped directly from Hitachi Construction Machinery in Japan to Southampton docks, before being transported to South Wales in sections on five low-loaders. Once assembled, the machine was immediately put to work at Selar OCCS, near Aberdare, where it is being used to strip superficial material and overburden.

The EX1900 was selected for its reliability and the nature of the application, and site manager Rob Thompson says he believes the company has made the right choice, as productivity levels are already reported to be high.
