Programme announced for the online New Horizons I Building the Recovery Conference

THE programme for the New Horizons | Building the Recovery online conference has been announced. Delegates can choose from 65 free-to-attend seminars and 12 discussion panels at Hillhead Digital from 30–31 March 2021. The programme includes a dedicated session hosted by the Institute of Quarrying (IQ) that explores Health, Safety & Wellbeing.

The minerals industry has seen the impacts of Covid and the need to manage safety and well-being during the grips of the pandemic. As the potential solutions to the pandemic start to roll out during 2021, the industry will be at the forefront of the economic recovery.

With a predicted increase in demand over the next few years, the minerals industry will need to balance the drive for production with maintaining a safe and healthy workforce. The IQ session will discuss some of the challenges, the support available and the skills required to deliver a safe and sustainable industry.

The challenges of improving sustainability in the industry and better protecting our environment are also covered within the DigitalizationDecarbonization and Infrastructure streams, which feature, among other highlights: The Longcliffe Group – Calcium carbonates without the carbon; Hanson – Hanson UK’s path to carbon neutrality; Tarmac – Asphalt for low-carbon infrastructure; and CEMEX – CEMEX low-carbon concrete and HS2.

Meanwhile, the Industry Spotlight stream looks at solutions being provided for four common hazards facing the aggregates and construction industry; managing working at height; exposure to high levels of noise; navigating the risks of moving vehicles and machinery; and overcoming the hidden dangers of silo powder deliveries.

Participants can put live questions to leading industry figures, download conference handouts and engage with their peers through various networking platforms.

Hillhead Digital event director Richard Bradbury explained: ‘As we emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic, it is important to come together as an industry to not only tackle the challenges ahead, but also to celebrate our achievements and share good practice.

‘The New Horizons I Building the Recovery Conference will be a combination of pre-recorded presentations and live interaction that make the most of the Hillhead Digital platform. We look forward to welcoming you online at the end of this month.’
