Hemswell Surfacing choose Bobcat loader

Bobcat S550H skid-steer loader

New S550H skid-steer offers manoeuvrability and flexibility for road surfacing work in tight spaces

HEMSWELL Surfacing Ltd, based near Gainsborough, in Lincolnshire, have purchased a new-generation Bobcat S550H high-flow skid-steer loader together with new Bobcat sweeper and bucket attachments from Scunthorpe-based authorized Bobcat dealers AMS Bobcat.

According to Alan Jennison, managing director of Hemswell Surfacing, the new Bobcat loader is an excellent tool for road projects. He said: ‘We have been hiring Bobcat skid-steer loaders and attachments from AMS for several years now and they have become such an integral part of the equipment we use, we felt that it was time to invest in a new loader and attachments as part of our own machine fleet.’

Like all Bobcat compact loaders, the S550H loader is equipped with the quick-change Bob-Tach attachment-mounting system, allowing it to be combined quickly and safely with more than 70 different families of Bobcat attachments, delivering versatility and time-saving efficiency across a wide range of different applications.

Mr Jennison continued: ‘With its ability to turn around in its own length and fast cycle times, the S550H loader offers us the manoeuvrability and flexibility we need in the sometimes tight spaces available on site, working alongside our bigger machines such as pavers and rollers on surfacing projects.

‘The new S550H loader is an excellent all-purpose vehicle for general material handling such as loading and placing materials while hand-laying macadams. Combined with the powerful brush attachment, it is also an efficient clean-up tool.’

Hemswell Surfacing, who are fully equipped to carry out all types of surfacing using asphalt and bitumen macadam, work on behalf of local authorities and other public sector organizations, including private and commercial customers within north Lincolnshire, north Nottinghamshire, and South and East Yorkshire.

‘We can also use the new loader with other Bobcat attachments hired from AMS, such as surface planers, to carry out repair work,’ said Mr Jennison. ‘Together Bobcat loaders and attachments form a high-performance road and pavement surface repair package, ideal for repairing not only potholes, surface cracks and ice damage, but also for milling surfaces and for working around manholes.’

He concluded: ‘Equipped with controls that allow for precise movements even in the tightest of spaces, the S550H ensures safe, efficient operation at all times in areas inaccessible to traditional machines. We have therefore found that the Bobcat loader is more productive than other types of equipment and completes more work in less time. Because of its compact size, it is also easier to fit on low-loaders with our other equipment for ease of transport.’
