HCME celebrate production milestone

Hitachi Construction Machinery (Europe) NV (HCME) have celebrated the shipment of the 25,000th medium Hitachi Zaxis excavator at their factory in Amsterdam.

The milestone machine, a ZX140W-3, represents an achievement for the Japanese construction manufacturer and the largest of their European assembly plants.

To mark the occasion, a special ceremony was held at the factory in January, which was attended by guest speakers - Mr Kikawa, president, Hitachi Construction Machinery Co. Ltd; Mr Tabei, president, HCME; and Jos Luyckx, managing director of the official Hitachi dealer in Belgium. All employees at the HCME factory were also invited to the ceremony. Their important role in the manufacturing and sales processes at HCME was highlighted by all three speakers.

The keys of the Hitachi ZX140W-3 wheeled excavator were then handed over to three representatives of the customer, Demaecker & Van Haecke (DMVH), who have been Hitachi customers since 1987. Based in Blankenberge, DMVH specialize in earthmoving, waterworks and material handling projects in Belgium, France and The Netherlands.

Jos Luyckx explained: ‘The company ordered four Zaxis crawler excavators following a demonstration, which initially convinced them of the quality of the Hitachi brand.

‘Over the years, DMVH have ordered approximately 130 Hitachi machines, of which 72 are still in use today. [The company’s] fleet includes crawler excavators from eight to 35 tonnes, wheeled excavators, material handling machines and wheel loaders.’
