FW Bau Demolition power ahead with Doosan machines

Doosan DX255LC excavator

German contractor heaps high praise on construction machinery including a DX255LC excavator

FW Bau of Salzhemmendorf, in Germany, have purchased a new Doosan DX255LC excavator from authorized dealers Atlas Hannover Baumaschinen GmbH & Co. One of its first projects was dismantling a concrete tank at a sewage treatment plant at Malente, in Schleswig-Holstein, northwestern Germany.

During decommissioning works, the DX255LC machine demonstrated its performance, efficiency and reliability on the project. Originally, it was expected that it would take three weeks to demolish the tank, which had a 14m diameter and stood at 14m high.

The Doosan excavator has exceeded expectations and helped reprocess some 200 cubic metres of demolished concrete, together with 800 cubic metres of stone. According to Felix Wessel, owner and managing director of FW Bau, the demolition project took two weeks to complete (one week ahead of schedule) and a key contributing factor to the success of the contract was the trouble-free operation of the construction machinery used.

While the 25-tonne DX255LC excavator was used to demolish and handle C&D material with the help of a jaw crusher, a Doosan DX140LCR-5 excavator was utilized to load the waste into FW Bau’s own haul trucks.

‘I can fully rely on the Doosan machines, which is an important factor for us as a medium-sized contractor,’ said Mr Wessel.

The md of FW Bau has also been impressed with the proven, professional level of response and solution-oriented approach from Atlas Hannover Baumaschinen, which have given his business the machinery aftermarket support and expertise it needs in carrying out everyday operations.

Since taking delivery of the DX255LC excavator, the demolition contractor has boosted its Doosan equipment which now includes: a DX63-3, the DX140LCR-5; and more recently, a DX190W-5 wheeled excavator. In addition, FW Bau have a new Doosan wheel loader order on order.

Mr Wessel commented: ‘If the worst comes to worst, we can fully rely on the team from Atlas Hannover and thankfully so far, I can say that none of the Doosan machines has had a problem.’
