First Renault Premiums for NR Parsons

Aggregate haulage firm NR Parsons Transport have taken delivery of six new Renault Premium 460 6x2 trucks, with Optidriver automated gearbox and Privilege cab. The Premiums replace the company’s Volvo trucks and are the first Renaults to join NR Parson’s 11-vehicle fleet.

The new trucks are currently undertaking general haulage work for Tarmac and are based at the operator’s Cornelly Quarry in Bridgend. ‘Value for money and fuel economy were the two big factors in our purchase decision,’ said Neil Parsons, owner of NR Parsons Transport.

‘Although it's early days, the new Premiums are already returning 7.2mpg and we expect this to increase, as the demonstrator was achieving 7.6mpg, which is a good result for this type of operation and a considerable improvement on the existing vehicles in the fleet.’

The Renault Premiums have all been specified with sleeper cabs for operational flexibility, and to ensure maximum fuel efficiency, NR Parsons' drivers will attend an Optifuel driver training course.

Peter Harris of Renault Trucks Cardiff, the local dealership delivering the course, said: ‘Escalating fuel prices makes operators such as NR Parsons acutely aware of the benefits of reducing diesel consumption. Added to the proven fuel-efficiency of the Renault Premium, attending an Optifuel course can make a real difference to an operator’s bottom line.’
