First Bell articulated dumptruck for Clearwater

Bell Equipment win new customer order thanks to industry knowledge and custom design

THE expertise of Bell Equipment in the waste-management industry, and their ability to create tailor-made solutions, has led Clearwater, one of the UK’s largest independent recycling operators, to purchase their first Bell B30E ADT.

Glasgow-based Clearwater provide treatment, recycling and disposal services to the industrial, commercial and municipal sectors across the UK. The waste-management firm also specializes in the hire of plant and equipment in the Central Scotland area.

And it was for this line of business that Clearwater were tasked with sourcing a customized ADT for use at a landfill site to further enhance their hire division offering.

Graeme Hughes, contract manager for Clearwater, commented: ‘We pride ourselves on providing a reliable service at all times and an integral part of this is the quality of the equipment we supply. As such we needed to ensure that whichever make and model of ADT we supplied, it had to be the best on the market.

‘The customer also wanted to ensure it was as efficient and economical as possible in terms of both performance and running costs. It was Bell Equipment’s knowledge of the industry, their willingness to listen and the final solution they presented, which swayed our decision.’

According to Bell, the B30E machine was chosen as the best fit for the application, but with the addition of customized ‘waste greedy boards’. The boards are 1m taller than the standard design and increase the ADT’s volume by 26%, allowing the operator to move more waste in less time.

The back door of the ADT was also modified – being curved rather than straight. This curve prevents compacted waste becoming stuck to the back door, making the deposit of waste much easier, quicker and cleaner.

Mr Hughes said: ‘The performance of the Bell ADT has been outstanding right from the outset, with fuel and AdBlue consumption far lower than its competitors. Our customers and the operators love working with it; with this in mind we will be looking to work with Bell Equipment again in the very near future.’
