Fieldgate web server from Endress+Hauser

Endress+Hauser’s Fieldgate web server could provide the perfect bridge between field instruments and the Internet, as it allows, the company claim, remote monitoring, diagnosis and configuration of HART and PROFIBUS field devices via Ethernet TCP/IP, telephone lines (analogue) or mobile communications (GSM/GPRS).

Fieldgate allows raw material suppliers to remotely check tank or silo levels at any time and account for them in production planning. By monitoring the configured level limits, the web server is able to activate the next supply, from a simple purchasing requisition via email through to a fully automatic order administration in a variety of enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, so that business processes are organized simply and efficiently.

The web server provides remote configuration of field instruments through standard software such as ReadWin 2000, ToF Tool-Fieldtool and FieldCare. These transfer formats allow for further analysis and simple processing of measured data through to integration into more complex planning systems. Fieldgate is said to be easily accessed by any web-compatible computer, without the need for additional software, as it supports standard internet software protocols, including http and TCP/IP.
