Exhaust purification product meets the needs of diesel powered equipment users
Diesel powered equipment used indoors or in confined areas presents a major health and safety issue for the user and those working in the same area. The exhaust dust (particulate) and odour also causes contamination of anything in the vicinity and is a severe nuisance. Diesel exhaust particulate is also a known carcinogen therefore employers should take measures to reduce or eliminate exposure to their employees and third parties.
There are many compact machines that often work in stationary conditions whilst in confined or sensitive areas. In some cases electric powered equipment can be used but this tends to be less versatile and lower powered than traditional diesel power. These small diesel machines tend to have no room to fit exhaust purification such as oxidation catalysts or particulate filters. Therefore Cawdell have developed a remote exhaust purification unit called SUTBUSTA.
The SUTBUSTA is a mobile exhaust particulate filter combined with oxidation catalyst. It connects to the diesel equipment’s tailpipe and eliminates diesel soot and odour, making it much more acceptable to use diesel equipment in confined areas. Unlike temporary type filters the SUTBUSTA uses high-quality materials and once the filter is full (approximately 50h of usage) can be cleaned simply by plugging into a power supply and pressing a button! All the necessary systems are built into the unit. Collected soot is internally incinerated in a safe manner in less than 4h. This removes the need to handle messy and hazardous filter cartridges, and eliminates the need for specialist disposal of used filter cartridges.
The SUTBUSTA removes 90% of diesel particulate and up to 80% of hydrocarbon and carbon monoxide gaseous emissions including the noxious odour. Black smoke is virtually eliminated.
Martin Holmes, head of engineering, commented: ‘We have developed the SUTBUSTA as a direct response to customer requests. The product is built to the highest quality, it is extremely robust, and is being well accepted by equipment manufacturers, hire companies, and end-users.’
As a spin-off to the remote SUTBUSTA Cawdell are also able to offer a design that can be fitted temporarily onto mobile diesel equipment. Cawdell call this alternate unit the SUTBUSTA O.B.
It has always been an issue that permanently fitting exhaust purification to a machine for use in confined areas is not cost effective as the machine may only require such devices several times during its life. The SUTBUSTA and SUTBUSTA O.B. allow a cost-effective alternative as they can be swapped between machines. It is also possible to connect several stationary machines to one SUTBUSTA.
Cawdell are offering a no obligation demonstration. They will bring a unit to your site, explain the product, attach to the tailpipe of any diesel equipment, and demonstrate the effects.
