Doosan launch the new DX235LC-5 crawler excavator

Doosan DX235LC excavator

Latest Stage IV-compliant machine offers more productivity, improved comfort and increased fuel efficiency

DOOSAN Construction Equipment have launched their new DX235LC-5 crawler excavator, the latest in the company’s new LC-5 generation of excavators, offering enhanced comfort and controllability, together with new features to boost fuel efficiency, uptime and return on investment.

Complementing Doosan’s narrow-width DX235NLC-5 and reduced-radius DX235LCR-5 models, the latest DX235LC-5 excavator has been designed to meet the needs of operators looking for a machine with higher performance and stability than the existing Stage IIIB-compliant DX225LC-3 unit. The DX235LC-5 model also compares favourably with the power and productivity offered by the larger DX255LC-5 unit.

The new Stage IV-compliant excavator combines a 2.99m width undercarriage, a 900kg increase in weight and a much heavier counterweight (eg 5,000kg vs 4,300kg on the DX225LC-3), resulting in increased lift capacities of up to 6% (front) and 8% (side).

Featuring a distinctive machine styling scheme common to all new Doosan LC-5 excavators, the DX235LC-5 model is powered by the well-proven 6-cylinder, turbocharged Doosan DL06P water-cooled diesel engine, which delivers an output of 124kW (169hp) at 1,800 rev/min.

The DL06P engine is said to be one of the most reliable and fuel-efficient ever produced by Doosan, with new and exclusive features helping to reduce fuel consumption by as much as 9%, as well as meeting Stage IV emission regulations without the need for a diesel particulate filter.

Among these features is: a new trip meter setting screen that allows operators to check fuel consumption daily (or over a desired period) directly from the control panel; an auto shut-off function that provides automatic shutdown of the engine after the machine has been idling for a specified time; and a special Doosan-developed Smart Power Control (SPC) system that optimizes the balance between the pumps’ output and diesel engine.

The DX235LC-5 excavator is factory-installed with CoreTMS – a new state-of-the-art wireless fleet-monitoring system previously not available as standard on Doosan excavators but now incorporated in all new LC-5 generation machines above 14 tonnes.

Already spacious and ergonomic, the new cab in the LC-5 machine has been further refined for superior operator comfort and ease of operation. The cab offers greater controllability with a new system that allows attachments to be operated from either the joystick or a two-way pedal. Users also have the unique jog shuttle switch which remains a feature exclusive to Doosan excavators worldwide.
