Doosan equipment for Celtic Crushing & Screening

South Wales-based Celtic Crushing & Screening have expanded their fleet with the acquisition of two Doosan DX340LC excavators and two Doosan DL400 wheel loaders.

Celtic Crushing specialize in providing on-site crushing services to both quarry operators and civil engineering contractors on short- and long-term contracts. The new machines are currently being used in conjunction with the company’s 12 mobile-tracked crushers, which offer production rates of up to 600 tonnes/h.

The 34-tonne DX340, one of Doosan’s latest excavators, is powered by a six-cylinder Doosan Stage 3 common-rail diesel engine, which produces 184kW (250hp) at 1,750 rev/min, while the 23-tonne DL400, equipped with a Cummins Stage 3 engine, develops 231kW (310hp) at 1,700 rev/min. The wheel loader includes ZF transmission and axles with outboard, oil-immersed disc brakes.

One of the first jobs for the Doosan machines has been at Tarmac’s Torcoed Quarry, near Carmarthen, where Celtic Crushing has a contract to produce crushed limestone to meet the growing demand for roadstone.

Commenting on the purchase of the Doosan equipment, Celtic Crushing director Elwyn Jones said: ‘As part of our research into suitable machines we contacted several local users of large Doosan models and, as a result of positive feedback coupled with competitive prices and realistic delivery times, we placed an order for the DX/DL combinations.’
