Company gears up for growth in Germany, Austria and Switzerland with major investment

DEVELON (previously Doosan Construction Equipment) are investing in brand-new facilities in Germany, as the South Korean OEM gears up for growth in the country, along with neighbouring Austria and Switzerland.

A state-of-the-art customer/training centre and a demonstration area for testing machines will be built on a 10,650 sq m site in Mannheim, with completion scheduled for the third quarter (Q3) of 2024. The major investment will strategically bring Develon closer to their customers and dealers, demonstrating their commitment to Germany as a business location.

The new facilities will also create more than 40 jobs in the region whilst an independent business, HD Hyundai Infracore Deutschland GmbH, has been established to oversee the German, Austria, and Switzerland operations.

To ensure that customers are offered the best aftermarket service possible, operations at a transitional location began in March 2023, so that large parts of the federal states of Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate and Hesse can be supplied with spare parts and services. A well-equipped new rental fleet with the latest generation of construction machinery has also been made available to bridge order peaks and for extensive testing.

In March this year, Develon appointed Andreas M. Lohner as new sales manager for the DACH region and Eastern Europe. He has also been recruited to managing director of HD Hyundai Infracore Deutschland.

Mr Lohner sees the company very well positioned for the future: ‘Both the intended location in Lempacher Straße and our transitional location in Seckenheimer Landstraße in Mannheim are ideal owing to their optimal location and quick accessibility,’ he commented.

‘By deciding on a fully equipped transitional location, with a workshop that started operating in June, a well-stocked spare parts warehouse, a rental fleet, the latest generation of machines and a wide range of new machines, we can already provide fast, pragmatic, and reliable support to customers and partners in the Rhine-Neckar metro region.'
