Demolition firm finds an ‘ace’ way to fight dust

ACE Plant's Dust-fighter DF75000MPT

London-based Oakwood Demolition invest in ACE Plant’s latest on-site dust-suppression machinery

FACED with an increasing workload, North London-based Oakwood Demolition, specialists in demolition, bulk earthworks and groundworks, decided to evaluate their existing arrangements for controlling dust on site and quickly became drawn to the versatility of ACE Plant’s Dustfighter range.

The company has since purchased a Dust-fighter DF75000MPT – a complete dust-suppression unit that produces a fine mist of water through a series of high-pressure jets. The mist is propelled on to the site by a powerful fan, covering a wide area in just a few moments and rendering the area free from unhealthy and hazardous material.

The machine has a coverage range of around 60 metres and water consumption can be as little as 10 litres/min, making it a very flexible and cost-effective on-site dust-suppression solution.

The DF75000MPT, which can be remotely controlled, is powered by an on-board 22kVA generator and an integral 2,000-litre stainless steel tank, making it entirely self-contained and alleviating the need for additional ancillary equipment.

Commenting on the purchase, Oakwood Demolition’s service director, Mike Hughes, said: ‘On past contracts we have made do with our own fan-based dust-suppression set, but when we added up the costs and inconvenience of having to gather together the generating set, cables, hoses and pressurized water feeds that were required to operate our old fan system, the decision to purchase an ‘all-in-one’ Dustfighter from ACE Plant became obvious.’
