David Brown launch new service centre in Chile

Gearing specialist opens first facility in South America as part of global expansion strategy

DAVID Brown, the global gearing experts, have launched their first facility in South America with the official opening of a new service centre in Antofagasta, Chile.

The new centre, which will offer local sales, service and engineering solutions with support from a dedicated sales team in Santiago, will focus on the repair and overhaul of gearboxes for the South American mining industry, although it will also have the capability to service other industries, including cement.

The facility will offer a full range of services including repair, service and upgrade of all geared transmissions for applications including conveyors, SAG/AG mills, agitators and flotation tanks, as well as offering spares, drop-in replacement and complete asset management.

David Brown say the expansion into South America is part of the company’s strategy to provide a global network of sales and service centres to serve key markets with locally employed specialist teams. Over the past year, due to increased demand, the company has already expanded its existing service capacity in South Africa and Australia.

For the launch of David Brown Chile and its new service centre, the company has joined forces with local firm Summit Mining, who offer a wealth of market knowledge, experience and deep customer relationships with key mining operators in the region.

Adam Clarke, owner of Summit Mining and managing director of David Brown Chile, said: ‘We’ve been servicing customers in Chile for some time and the new dedicated David Brown service centre here in Antofagasta is a major milestone in our plan to deliver the best and fastest support possible.’
