COVID-19: MPA launches additional guidance resources

Ten rules of engagement

New operational guidance document and posters launched to help members adapt to COVID-19

COMPLETING the suite of documents and resources aimed at supporting members, the Mineral Products Association (MPA) is now launching its ‘COVID-19 Operational Guidance’ document, together with a series of posters to help members to get their locations COVID secure.

A more detailed publication aimed at directors and managers, ‘COVID-19 Operational Guidance’ provides guidance on operating safely during the COVID-19 pandemic and provides links to shared members’ resources and important sources of information and updates, including from government and non-government organizations. It complements the MPA Managers and Employees pocket guides that were launched last week.

Designed for download and use around operations, two types of site poster are available. First, a series based around the MPA’s ‘10 Rules of Engagement’ and employing the same graphics as in the Manager and Employees pocket guides. These are available in two forms, one with a cartoon and the key message, and another with the cartoon, key message and additional information. Secondly, a series giving clear graphical instructions which can be used in addition to signage.

All documents are available on Safequarry.com and Safeprecast.com under COVID-19 Updates, and will be regularly reviewed and updated as new guidance and information emerges.

Nigel Jackson, chief executive of the MPA, said: ‘This third Guidance document and accompanying posters completes our new package of resources produced to assist our members and the wider industry adapt to becoming COVID secure.

‘The package, conceived, developed and published in around three weeks, reflects the ‘can do’ attitude of our members who are determined to play their part in rebuilding business confidence and boosting activity levels as the recovery gains momentum.

‘It is crucial that construction, manufacturing and other key sectors can secure the essential mineral products supplies they need to plan ahead with confidence and invest in the future.

‘Government has said it is still committed to its plans to improve and expand our infrastructure throughout the UK – particularly the Regions, notwithstanding the impacts COVID-19 is having on the economy, and we support that.’
