Corporate Manslaughter Workshops

MARSH, the world’s leading insurance brokers and strategic risk advisers, are undertaking a series of workshops around the UK to provide business leaders with the skills and information they need to manage their risk and insurance responsibilities under the Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act 2007, which comes into force on 6 April 2008.

The Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act 2007 is one of the most far-reaching pieces of legislation in recent history. For the first time, organizations can be found guilty of corporate manslaughter as a result of a gross breach of the general duty of care created by a failure in the health and safety system involving senior management.

As well as outlining the key elements of the Act and its impact on businesses, Marsh’s workshops will provide delegates with practical help on ensuring that they have effective occupational health and safety management systems (OHSMS) in place, both in work buildings and work-related vehicles. During the workshop, every delegate will be able to undertake a health check of their own organization’s preparedness for the Act, work through a case study and share ideas and experiences.

The workshops will be held as follows: 16 April at 1 City Road East, Manchester; 14 May at Charter House, Milton Keynes; 15 May at Tower Place, London; 16 May at Orchard Brae House, Edinburgh; 19 May at Tricorn House, Birmingham; and 20 May at Merlin House, Reading.
