Concrete acquisition for Aggregate Industries

THE remaining share of CEMEX Readymix South West Ltd has been acquired by Aggregate Industries Ltd for an undisclosed sum.

Aggregate Industries have been joint-venture partners in the company since 1959 and the acquisition will further strengthen their network of ready-mixed concrete operations throughout the UK. Comprising 18 ready-mixed concrete plants and a sales office in the south-west of England, Readymix South West is the leading supplier of high-quality ready-mixed concrete in Dorset, Somerset, Devon and Cornwall.

According to Aggregate Industries, this latest major investment helps to underpin the company’s strategy and commitment to provide an extensive network of large-volume and mini-mix ready-mixed concrete supply services for customers and potential customers throughout the UK.

Readymix South West, who have 70 employees and deliver their products through a network of 30 owner-drivers, will become part of Aggregate Industries’ ready-mixed concrete business, Bardon Concrete. The newly acquired operations in the South West will be re-branded, with new trading names being announced in the near future.

Commenting on the purchase, Bill Bolsover, group chief executive of Aggregate Industries, said: ‘Our purchase of Readymix South West is an important move for Aggregate Industries and represents our commitment to this region. This acquisition will allow us to extend our supply of standard and special products to customers for wide ranging projects throughout the South West.’
