Community praises Breedon Aggregates Scotland

Moray Council applauds company’s effort to get schools open and pathways clear during heavy snow

WORKERS at Breedon Aggregates Scotland have been praised by the Moray community for their tireless efforts in clearing recent heavy snow.

In the weeks leading up to Christmas, snow and sub-zero temperatures wrought havoc in Moray and schools in the area were badly hit while some roads were rendered impassable.

Now Moray Council has sung the praises of one of the contractors behind the region’s snow-clearing efforts, Breedon Aggregates Scotland, after receiving an influx of positive emails and letters from members of the public.

Breedon workers have been clearing snow at schools across the area ever since the first heavy snowfall hit the region in November, and Moray Council has circulated a letter to the men and women behind the effort to mark their achievements.

John Stewart, the engineer who wrote the letter, said the Council’s Educational Services department was particularly pleased with the recent progress.

He said: ‘I would like to thank everyone at Breedon for all their help, support and hard work. The fact that the Council has managed to re-open schools…has been due in no small measure to their work. Many of my colleagues have complimented them on the quality of their efforts.’

Callum Buchan, supervisor for Breedon Aggregates Scotland in the North, said: ‘When the snow hit Moray many schools were completely inaccessible and pathways were treacherous. Our team have worked hard to get the community up and running again and we have focused, in particular, on keeping schools open. There was a real determination to get the job done.

‘We are delighted to hear that the Moray community appreciates the team’s efforts and we are very grateful to everyone who took the time to contact the Council.’
