CEMEX switching to paperless delivery

CEMEX

Initial move designed to improve sustainability and help decarbonize ready-mixed concrete business

A NEW move to a paperless delivery system for CEMEX’s UK ready-mixed concrete business will eliminate the need to print 120,000 delivery dockets annually – saving 13 trees every year.

The change is the latest of the company’s efforts to enhance the sustainability of its operations and reduce carbon emissions as part of its dedicated climate action strategy Future in Action.

From 5 September 2022, ready-mixed concrete customers will receive digital delivery tickets via CEMEX Go, the company’s end-to-end platform that allows users to check the status of jobs, place and track orders, access records, pay invoices, and more. The rollout will be phased by market area, beginning with the North West.

Deliveries will now be signed for via a mobile device, which offers further safety and efficiency benefits in addition to the sustainability savings. Digital tickets will ensure a contact-free delivery and reduce the requirement for operatives to move around on site.

Additionally, it will be easier for sites to manage their administration and reduce the potential for errors. After signing, delivery tickets will be immediately available for customers to view in the CEMEX Go Track app and stored securely in the cloud for instant, transparent, and real-time access.

Lex Russell, managing director of CEMEX UK Materials, commented: ‘CEMEX Go Paperless is the latest in our efforts to increase the sustainability of our business while enhancing customer experience and further improving our safe and efficient operating model.

‘We continuously invest and innovate to enable a low-carbon and resource-efficient circular economy, and the launch of CEMEX Go Paperless will prevent the use of a considerable amount of paper while also decreasing waste. This move saves the equivalent of 13 trees every year and 0.6 tonnes CO2. We strive to make CEMEX easier to do business with and this change has been welcomed by our customers and employees.’

Further rollouts of CEMEX Go Paperless are planned to incorporate CEMEX UK’s other business units. A trial for Packed Cement is currently under way, with an aim for this to be launched by the end of 2022. As Paperless is rolled out throughout the business, it is anticipated that the amount of paper saved will considerably increase.

Customers should register for CEMEX Go in advance of the 5 September 2022 launch date.
