Bulk weighing and monitoring technology on display

Thermo Fisher Scientific will be highlighting their wide range of industrial bulk weighing and monitoring products at the Hillhead 2007. Featured on stand P90 for the first time in the UK will be a 4m long conveyor incorporating several of these devices, including: a tramp-metal detector, a flow/no-flow detector, belt misalignment and tilt switches, a belt-scale system, an integrator and a moisture analyser.

Designed for use with belt conveyors moving coal, minerals, aggregates and other bulk materials, the Thermo Scientific Ramsey Oretronic III tramp-metal detector is capable of detecting items such as bucket teeth, manganese steel mantles, bore crowns, rebar, chains and tools, as well as tramp metal that is buried in wet conductive materials.

The Thermo Scientific Ramsey GTR 130 flow/no-flow detector is a non-invasive, microwave-based device that detects and monitors solids flow in pipelines, ducts, air slides, transfer points and bucket elevators. The real-time flow information offers a variety of benefits including fewer hazards for equipment and operators, reduced wastage and less unusable end product.

The Thermo Scientific Ramsey Pro-line belt misalignment switch monitors operating processes for potentially hazardous conditions. Displacement of the device’s actuating arm activates an alarm signal to warn of a potential shutdown, allowing the operator
to make adjustments and realign the belt.

Also incorporated into the conveyor will be a Thermo Scientific Ramsey Pro-line tilt switch, which is activated by rising material. Various probe assemblies are available to suit numerous applications in a range of environmental conditions. An adjustable time delay setting helps prevent false trips.

The conveyor will also feature a Thermo Scientific Ramsey Series 20 belt-scale system specially designed to monitor feed to crushers, mills, screens and other processes, to an accuracy of ±0.5%. Designed for use in harsh conditions, the system can be installed on fixed or portable conveyors.

Also on display will be the entry-level Thermo Scientific Ramsey Micro-Tech
11-101F, a durable mini microprocessor-based integrator featuring the latest state-of-the-art electronics, together with the high-performance Thermo Scientific Spectra-Quad online moisture and constituent analyser, which provides continuous real-time information on moisture content and other critical product parameters using a measurement technique based on a near-infrared light absorption.
